At The Sophia Way, we recognize that the programs that support our community would not be possible without the commitment of our volunteers. We are grateful to have so many people involved with The Sophia Way who have donate more than 15,000 hours every year to help women in our community move toward an independent, stable life.
We conduct personalized orientation for every volunteer and try to balance your skillset with our requirements. Ages 16 and over are welcome to volunteer at The Sophia Way. If you are younger than 16, you’ll need to bring along a parent or guardian when you volunteer.
There are many different ways that volunteers can contribute, be it providing the meals, supporting the front desk, participating in a group project, assembling fundraising materials or helping to plan an event. Whether you choose to give an hour, a day or an entire year of volunteer service, we value your time immensely and appreciate that you are giving back to the community.

Volunteering at The Sophia Way is a wonderful opportunity for me to give something back to my community. No matter how large or small the task volunteers consistently give what is called 'a true gift of self'. The results of our efforts shine through in the faces of individuals who find a job or secure a decent place to live. They take pride in their accomplishments and we, as volunteers, share in that pride knowing we help to make it happen. We are dedicated to reduce homelessness.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of The Sophia Way team. Their commitment to assisting homeless women on the Eastside has been an amazing and educational experience for me.”
“I have witnessed the transformative effects on women experiencing homelessness, earned valuable work experience in the non-profit sector, and connected in a meaningful way with the community. Thanks to The Sophia Way for this amazing opportunity.”
