Sophia’s Place in the basement of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Bellevue is our Day Center and Evening Shelter. For many of our clients, it is they place that they call home. While clients, staff, and regular volunteers do a great job of keeping it clean and organized everyday, we always appreciate when a larger group can come in and do a really thorough deep clean of the facilities, overhaul our always full donation storage room, or volunteer for a garden/landscape project!
Group projects at Sophia’s Place are limited to the hours between our day and night programs, from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm, preferably during a weekday. If this doesn’t work for your schedule, please consider the options below:
Holly House is our transitional housing program where a group of women live together in a six bedroom house in the Factoria neighborhood of Bellevue. As with any house, there’s always plenty of maintenance that needs doing, including maintaining the yard and fixing things up. These tasks typically involve going to the Holly House and getting dirty and sweaty and tired. Does your group have a lot of energy? This could be a good fit for you.
Because we have limited hours in which we are able to host a large group onsite, we are happy to come to you and lead a project at your location. This could include packing lunches, assembling gift bags, creating a special art project for our shelter or an event, or anything else you can dream up!
Cooking and donating meals is a great option for groups! Click here to find out more about donating a meal.
Our wonderful Volunteer Coordinator will work with you to find a way that your group can help us. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll be happy to help your group find a way to be a part of The Sophia Way.
