Celebrating 15 Years of Hope & Change!

Dear Friends,

Fifteen years ago today, we placed mats on the floor of the Bellevue First Congregational Church, where eight women came in from the cold for the first time.

Today, we provide shelter for 100 women every day. We are filled with gratitude, knowing that this incredible achievement is made possible by the unwavering support of individuals like you.

You hold a special place in our hearts. Your compassion has been the heartbeat of our mission, bringing solace, hope, and transformation to the lives of countless women. Your generosity has provided shelter and nourishment – the cornerstone upon which we’ve built our programs.

In May 2009, Cathy was the first woman at The Sophia Way to find an apartment.

“The Sophia Way program is a savior for women who need help getting their lives back. When I needed shelter after being laid off, I found a safe place. I was treated with dignity and respect. The staff held my hand while helping me get back on my feet and into a home of my own.”

The impact of your generosity echoes in the stories of those whose lives you’ve touched.

“You have been my pillow of support when nobody else heard my cries.”

“I was overjoyed to finally have a place I could call my own. I cried tears of relief and joy. I am so grateful to all who put my apartment together with furnishings and all the wonderful items that make it a beautiful place for me to love.”

On behalf of The Sophia Way and, more importantly, on behalf of the more than 5,000 women we have served and more than 600 women who have found housing over the past 15 years, we express our deepest gratitude for standing by our side.

With your continued support, we aspire to expand our reach, amplify our support services, and forge new partnerships with the community to give more women a pathway to stability. We hope you will join our heartfelt celebrations planned throughout 2024.

Our deepest thanks to you for walking together, besides the women, over these 15 remarkable years. Your generosity has shaped our past and lights the way for a future filled with hope, compassion, and lasting change.

With a heart full of gratitude,

Dietra Clayton, Managing Executive Director
